Milestone Fitness Goals
Kendall Harrell, personal training manager for Life Time Fitness, always used to say that setting a specific goal allows people to focus on training and drives motivation to exercise.
“It’s a lot easier to make it to the finish line if you have the goal in sight,” he said.
I've noticed the same thing lately, in a completely different sphere.
I've been pounding flat out on getting the task done. It completely absorbed my attention... and it got done.
Along the way, other essentials were also accomplished, but more on autopilot than with verve.
Nevertheless, a lot did not get done. And when I sat down to catch up on those things, I just couldn't make progress. There were too many unconnected fragments.
In the end, I just started at the top of the list, in no particular order because priorities were similar, and just ploughed through them, one after another.
My total goal was to catch up. My milestones were the tasks. One by one. One after the other. Just like walking, and that famous 1000 mile march.
And do you know what? It worked.
Maybe it would work for your fitness goals, too. Get the ultimate condition in mind and hold onto it. Then just do the steps. Milestone fitness goals. One by one. One after the other.
Until... one day, you achieve your fitness goal. Just as you knew you would!
