Fitness For Keenagers
Yes, fitness for keenagers! I hadn't heard the term, either, but it was apparently coined by a lady named Gail Aiken of mPowerdome, in Canberra, Australia.
Her local newspaper reported that Gail's research showed that many older people found the term 'old age' offensive. As a fitness instructor, she said they wanted something 'that appealed to their sporting needs, but that was also social'.
So she developed the Keenagers program for those aged over 50. It includes strength and conditioning and motor skills work specially designed for older physiology.
And apparently it's proving quite a hit.
