Yoghurt Wonders
Yoghurt is a wonderfully versatile addition to a healthy diet - and tasty, too.
Savoury yoghurts are a terrific alternative to higher fat dips, cream and dressings, and low fat plain or vanilla varieties can be used instead of cream in cooking and desserts.
And here's something many people don't know - eating yoghurt that contains live lactobacillus acidophilus culture can help speed your recovery from diarrhoea and infection. If it's in the tub, most labels make a point of mentioning it.
As a rule of thumb, you're usually better off with yoghurts that meet these criteria:
fat content - less than 4g per 100g
saturated fat content - less than 1g per 100g
kilojoule content - less than 350kJ per 100g
calcium content - more than 120mg per 100g
